Found Black & White Cat in Newmarket

Date Found: Early April 2008
Area: Eagle & Sandford, Newmarket

We have found a black and white cat in Newmarket (Eagle and Sandford Streets area). It is very friendly. It is wearing a black collar with no tags. The clasp on the tag is a heart shape. It has been hanging around the Beswick and Sandford area for since early April 2008.

Found Black Dog in Queensville

Date Found: Thursday April 10th, 2008???
Area: Queensville

I'm a resident of Queensville. A black large dog has been roaming in our area for over a day now. He looks like a poodle mix of some sort and is not wearing a collar. Although he appears to be friendly, we are not quite sure as we have not had any contact with him.

Found Beagle in Richmond Hill

Date Found: Wednesday April 9th, 2008
Area: Elgin Barrow arena, Richmond Hill

We found a young Beagle (9 - 12 months in age is my guess) in a park outside Elgin Barrow Arena in Richmond Hill Wednesday April 9th in the early evening. I would prefer not to give too many details to ensure we find the right owner and not someone looking for a free dog.

Area: 14th Ave. & McCowan, Markham

Found a large black dog (Lab or Lab mix) with choke collar and invisible fence collar at 14^th Avenue and McCowan Sunday morning.

	Found Long Haired Brown Tabby
	Date Found: around December 2007?? Area: Oakwood & Eglinton, Toronto I have taken in a cat that has been living as a stray for at least a couple of months, possibly 4 months or longer. She is a long-haired brown tabby with green eyes, possibly a Maine Coon. Her weight when I first took her in was 7 lbs, but normally would probably be about 9 - 10 lbs. She has all her claws. She has been eating at a cat feeding station down the street from me for several weeks in February at least. But, I think I first saw her in my area in January or maybe even December. I didn't pay too much attention at the time because I assumed she was a feral cat. She was not immediately friendly with me as a stranger, but after I put food out on my property several times, she associated me with the food and approached me desperately wanting affection. She now is fairly friendly with me, gentle and generally fairly quiet, with an unusually hi pitched meow when she does cry. I found out recently that she is microchipped. She is about 5 1/2 yrs old and I have reason to believe she lived in York region previously, specifically in Maple, ON. However, attempts to reach people who adopted her 5 yrs ago have not yet yielded any results. Perhaps they are no longer at that old number and perhaps she has lived in another home since then. I live in Toronto, near Oakwood & Eglinton. According to the Toronto Humane Society's records this cat was originally found as a young cat in 2003 in the St. Clair & Winona area, which is actually fairly close to where I live. I find myself wondering if this cat has made a long journey from York Region to where she originally came from in the GTA. I have not found a lost cat listing with her description and I wonder if she might have been reported missing a number of months ago and since then the posting has been deleted? I also wonder, if she does come from Maple, if her people would think of looking at Toronto listings for found cats. For that reason, I am hoping you will list this 'found cat' report under York Region. If this kitty isn't claimed soon, I may have to leave her at the Toronto Humane Society. I have already had her for a few weeks. Thank you.

Found Toy Poodle in Newmarket

Date Found: March 21, 2008 (Good Friday), Approx. Time Found: 6:00pm
Area: Gail Park Cres, Newmarket (behind Canadian Tire)

We found a small white toy breed poodle with short curly hair. She is wearing a black collar but no tags attached. She looks to be around 6 or 7 yrs old and is very quiet. Doesn't bark much. She looked lost and was very cold. We took her in and trying to find a shelter in Newmarket or Aurora this weekend. Since it's the Easter long weekend, very few shelters are open. We will continue to try and provide updates when available. Please contact us if this is your dog.

Once again I have found another cat at my door. Male, Tabby, not neutered. Very affectionate. Unfortunately I have 3 cats. So I cannot keep him. Found in the Arthur Street and Muriel Street area of Newmarket.

	Found Affectionate Cat in Aurora
	Date Found: February 14th, 2008 Area: Wellington and MacDonald, Aurora February 14, 2008. A young cat has been camping on our doorstep near Wellington/MacDonald in Aurora. She's very affectionate and hardly ever stops talking. Face and legs are black, body is mostly black/dark brown mix long hair with a white patch on her chest. She's very thin, seems young but otherwise healthy. No microchip or collar.

	Date Found: Wednesday February 13th, 2008 Area: Leslie Valley Drive, Newmarket We found a kitten this morning near our home (Leslie Valley Drive, Newmarket) with the following description: It's a white cat, with grey circles around its eyes, grey-ish ears. We believe this kitten is either Persian mix or Himalayan mix. The kitten did not have any identification or collar. 	Date Found: Spring 2007 Area: Stouffville (near the old high school) A very sweet female cat, very petite. Kept coming to the highschool to get food from the janitors, eventually decided to take the cat home. 	Found Maine Coon type Cat in Newmarket
	Date Found: Thursday December 6th, 2007 Area: William Roe Blvd. Dixon, Newmarket We found a small female declawed Maine coon type cat on our doorstep 2 nights ago. We gave her water and food and she immediately drank A LOT--she is very skinny and also very friendly! She came right into my husband's arms and we now have her inside where it is safe and warm. She is definitely someone's pet. We have brought her to the vet--she is not microchipped. The area is William Roe Blvd. and Dixon in Newmarket. We have a multi-cat household and we cannot take another cat--we hope she finds her home!

	Date Found: November 2007 Area: Bathurst and Mulock, Newmarket I have found a cat, he/she is very healthy and sociable. a picture of him is attached. Found Black and White Cat in Mount Albert

Date Found: November 2007
Area: King & Shannon Streets, Mount Albert

A couple in Mount Albert (nearest intersection King and Shannon Sts.) took a cat down to their basement who had been eating frozen bread they put out for the birds. They fed this cat, and the cat purred and all that, and when the lady stuck her hand further in the cage to pat it, it bit her. Her hand swelled up like a balloon, and she had to go to emergency. To take a tetanus shot and they had to report it to the health dept. The SPCA (I think that’s who it was – they kept getting it mixed up) came to get in yesterday (Monday, Nov 19) and said they would put it into quarantine for 10 days and then it would be handed over to the health people to be checked for rabies (brain tissue, I would think.) So if someone does not turn up to claim this cat (with proof of rabies vaccine, I would presume), this poor cat is done.

I was told it was a very beautiful black and white cat, with an especially long tail, and was very thin.

Please ask around to see anyone you know may have heard of a cat like this being lost – and they should call the SPCA (Newmarket) right away. Thanks! Joanne
