Well, this part of the board is mighty depressing and sad. But it is a necessity that between pet parents that we see to the issue best we could. But today, I feel like I should share a story that should warm your hearts.

Two years ago, on my birthday, I visited my mother. I had been suffering from heavy depression since I had moved out with my boyfriend due to not having a pet. I`ve grown up have dogs and birds and a few exotic animals. My favorite exotic was my green anole named Godzilla! And I ended up with a man that lost his cat and wasn`t too keen in getting a new animal. So, no pets.
But my mother saw that the no pets deal was hurting me much and she took me to the shelter in her home town to surprise me with a rescued small dog.

Being aneamic and hypoglycemic, I bleed in abundance, it can be dangerous for me to get cut, so, there was no way I was getting a cat. I looked at the dogs, trying to see if there was one I clicked with, but... I couldn`t seem to find that perfect friend. I took a walk around the shelter and looked at the kitties anyways, because I love them even tough the claws are deadly. The shelter worker just had placed this adorable six months old kitty back in his cage and she seemed a good bit upset. The kitty in question had been raised at the shelter after being rescued from a horrible situation. He lacks coordination, his pupils do not dialate right in the light, he sometimes has his eyes twitching and they do not blink in synch. The cat had just been hurt really badly as a baby and was now tagged as a special needs kitty. Of course, not a whole lot of people are willing to take care of a special needs animal, but I came from a family that was experienced with animals and decided that this little black furball was to be named Church and that he was going to come live with me. Which was fortunate for him, since the shelter is located in a large city and that even tough they try real hard to find homes, sometimes they can`t and they have to put down the animals... Church was very close to his already stretched deadline.

Due to my conditions, I had no choice but to get him completely declawed. I put the extra money in it to get a laser surgery, which is much safer and much less painful. (for the record, I am opposed to declawing unless there is an understandable situation). Church has been told that he indeed had suffered a shock to the head bad enought to cause some sort of damage. But none of the less, I love him much and he must be amongst the most spoiled cats. He has many erks from his past, but I have worked hard around them to make his life better. I love Church, he is my little baby. It is nice to have such a sad story turn out so well for a critter. It would had been a real loss to have this loving cat put down, on the count that he is a bit harder to care for.

Church is indeed a lucky cat. I can`t even begin to understand why anyone would had hurt him to start with. Unfortunately, there is too many factors in society, temper flares, unsupervised children and that`s just the top two reasons that makes me rage. I`m just glad that Church is at least one fuzz that won`t live through that anymore. I`m really happy to have him too, my mental health has greatly improved thanks to him.
